Applying
Advanced
Entry to UK Undergraduate Programmes
Some Taiwan students
may be eligible for advanced entry onto undergraduate degree
programmes at British institutions. Typically they will be
junior college graduates or students wanting to finish their
undergraduate degrees overseas having begun them at Taiwan
universities. However, some high school graduates with exceptional
work experience may be eligible for creditable entry.
Advanced entry
applications are made through UCAS the same as normal first
year entry applications, however it is prudent to enter into
negotiations with the British institution before putting in
the formal UCAS application. This way you can ensure you will
be given credit for your previous study and you are not wasting
one of the places on your UCAS application form.
UKEAS provide first
class advice and FREE help with advanced entry placements.
Applications are the same as normal first year applications,
only it is necessary to provide extra detail on credit for
previous study. Without specific detail it is very hard for
the UK institution to judge how much credit is due and whether
the student is eligible to enter into year one, year two or
year three (or year four in the case of Scottish institution).
Once detailed information has been obtained, UKEAS can negotiate
with the institution of your choice to see whether advanced
entry is an option.
Courses popular
for Taiwan students applying for advanced entry are business,
management, computer science, tourism and hospitality management.
