Introduction to Computer Science by University of Chester
Computer Science is an ever-growing popular subject among SEA students. Hence, at the University of Chester we offer Computer Science at both UG and PG levels. Currently ranked 2nd nationally in Teaching Quality for Computer Science (The Times Good University Guide 2021), the programmes at our university prepares yourself for the challenges facing today's computer-dominated world through a theoretical and practical understanding of the science behind computers. Join our esteemed Senior Lecturer, Dr Richard Stocker as he talks about computer science, his impressive career which includes working at NASA, and the BSc (Hons) Computer Science programme in particular.
Dr Richard Stocker, Senior Lecturer for the Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Applied Computing programmes at The University of Chester.
He is also the programme leader for Software Engineering, and currently teaches the following modules: Databases I (Level 4), Databases II (Level 5), Web Application development using ASP.NET Core (Level 5), and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (Level 6). Dr Richard qualifications include a BSc, MSc and Ph.D. in Computer Science from The University of Liverpool. After completing his Ph.D. in 2012 on the topic of Formal Verification of Human and Agent Teamwork, he then completed a two year post-doc position at NASA Ames in California USA, where he continued his work on simulating and verifying human and agent teamwork. In 2015, he started teaching at Middlesex University and also completed his certification in Higher Education teaching the same year. Dr Richard has been working for The University of Chester since November 2017.
