Bournemouth University has a strong professional orientation with a focus on academic excellence and graduate employability. By way of illustration, we are recognised as the only Centre for Excellence in Media Practice in the UK and graduates from the National Centre for Computer Animation have worked in Hollywood on such films as Avatar, Gravity, Star Wars, and King Kong. BU has been recognised by The Times Higher Education World University Rankings as a¡¥top 500 university¡¦. BU has also been awarded, by the The Times Higher, a place in the ¡¥top 200 most international universities¡¦ and in April 2016 a place in the¡¥top 150 Under 50¡¦, this showcases the top universities from around the world under the age of 50. We offer placements to all of our undergraduate students and depending on the course, to many of our Masters students as well. We offer a wide range of preparatory programmes. All of our pre-sessional English and academic pathway programmes, are delivered at Bournemouth University International College. This is run in partnership by the university and Kaplan International Colleges; it is located on our Lansdowne Campus. Completing one of these courses before you begin your degree is a great way to settle into life in the UK, learn more about what to expect when studying at university in the UK and help you improve your English. During your time at the Bournemouth University International College, you will have access to the main BU campuses and their facilities, which include the sports centre, library, student support services and restaurants.
